Effects of Acupuncture on the Pregnancy Rate in Patients who Undergo Assisted Reproduction Therapy

This is the original study on acupuncture and IVF that made such a big splash.  It was published in the Fertility and Sterility journal which is the internationally recognized peer reviewed journal for Reproductive Endocrinologists and other health care professionals in the field.   One hundred and sixty patients were involved in the study; eighty received acupuncture just before and just after IVF transfer, the other eighty did not receive acupuncture treatment.  The results: those who received acupuncture had an ongoing pregnancy rate of 42% and those who did not receive acupuncture had ongoing pregnancy rates of 26%.
